Safety Precautions for All I/O Relay Terminals

Refer to the Safety Precautions for individual products for precautions specific to each product.

Precautions for Safe Use

Electric Shock

Please do not touch the relay terminal (live parts) or socket terminal (live parts) while the power is on. This may lead to electric shock.

Wiring

When wiring, please be sure to turn off the power. Also, while the power is on, please keep the cover closed and do not touch the terminal.

Please apply the correct voltage to the input terminal. If the correct voltage is not applied, regular functions may not run, and this may lead to damage or fire to the product.

For Relay Type

Please do not use at loads exceeding contact ratings such as for the number of openings and closings (contact current, contact voltage) etc.. This can lead to reduced performance in terms of poor insulation, contact welding, and loose connections etc., and may cause damage or fire to the relay.

The durability of relays varies significantly based on the opening and closing conditions. Before use, please perform a system check under real operating conditions, and then open and close up to the number of times that works without failure. If use is continued after performance has deteriorated, this may cause dielectric breakdown between circuits or fire damage to the relay.

Please do not use in an environment with flammable or explosive gases. This may lead to fire or explosions caused by an arc when switching contacts or the heat that a relay generates.

Non-contact Output (Transistor relay, Power MOS FET Relay and SSR)

Please do not use for the loads that exceed the rated output current. This can cause destruction of the output element, leading to a short-circuit failure or an open failure.

When using a direct current inductive load, be sure to connect a diode that can handle the reversed voltage. Otherwise, this may cause the destruction of an output element due to a reversed voltage or a short-circuit failure or an open failure.

Precautions for Correct Use

Relay Replacement

Do not remove a relay when the power is on. This may cause electric shock or a malfunction.

When replacing a relay, please use the yellow tool in the corner of the screw terminals (G70D-SOC16/FOM16 Models).

Please insert the relay perpendicularly, so that the arm does not bend. If it is not inserted correctly, it may lead to malfunction or the generation of heat.

Wiring

Please follow the voltage specifications for terminal polarity, transmission circuits and electrical wiring for I/O jumpers. If errors are made, this may lead to malfunctions.

Please do not remove a connector while the power is on, as this may lead to malfunctions.

Locking Connection Cable

Please check if connectors of all the connection cables are locked.

Installation

Do not install in the following places, as this may lead to malfunction or failure.

Location exposed to direct sunlight

Location subject to ambient temperature lower than 0 or higher than 55°C. (-25 to +55°C for the G70D-V model)

Subject to relative humidity lower than 10 or higher than 90 percent, and location subject to dramatic temperature changes causing possible condensation. (45 to 85 percent for the G70D-V model)

Locations subject to corrosive or flammable gases.

Locations subject to excessive dust, salt, or metal powder.

Locations subject to shock or vibration.

Locations subject to water, oil, or chemical reagents splashes.

Tightening Screw

Please tighten screws for all the units at the designated torque to avoid malfunctions etc.

Torque for tightening terminal screws
0.78 to 1.18 N·m

When screwing directly into the panel etc.
0.59 to 0.98 N·m

Torque for Relay Lock Fixed Screw (only for G70D-V model)
0.78 to 1.18 N·m

Cleaning

Please do not use thinners, as these will melt the surface of the equipment and cause discolorment.

Handling

Please do not drop the product, or apply excessive vibrations. This may lead to failure or malfunctions.

Dismantling

Please do not dismantle, repair or alter the product. This may hinder normal operation and could lead to dangers such as electric shock etc.
