RFIDs for Mold Formation and Service Life Management

Case Number 198

last update: April 19, 2011

RFID Tags (IC tags) are attached to molds to store mold information, the number of shots, the date when usage started, and forming conditions.
An Antenna that is attached to the forming machine reads mold information from the RFID Tags (IC tags). At this time, the number of shots is checked to confirm that it is within the scope of the service life.
After use, information is written from the forming machine to the RFID Tag.

Know-How

The lineup includes RFID Tags (IC tags) that are compact (8-mm diameter) and attach to metal.

The lineup also includes the M12 Compact Antennas.

Benefit / Efficiency

Information in RFID Tags (IC tags) that attach to metal is used to reliably manage molds, reduce setup time, and manage assets.

Even if a mold is mounted by mistake, the automation of mold checks prevents defective goods before forming.

It is easy to manage the cumulative shot time and number of shots, which affect the quality, and prevent defective molded products that are caused by the mold.
