Question

Can the Motor Protective Relay "SE" be used in an inverter circuit?

Answer

No, it cannot be used.

Motor Protective Relay "SE" is designed in order to protect the motor at sine wave frequency of 50/60Hz.
Therefore, if the SE is used in an inverter circuit, errors may occur with the overload element, and unnecessary operation may be performed with the open-phase or reverse-phase element.
For the above mentioned reason, overload, open-phase, or reverse-phase protection functions cannot be used at all.

For motor protection of the inverter control, use the Motor Protective Relay "K2CM Series" or the Multiple Motor Protective Relay "K2MR Series".
